ClouDNS

Overview

ClouDNS is a technology leader in providing global Managed DNS services. The Cloud DNS module will allow you to build full-featured white label DNS solution.

Activating the module

1. If the module is included in your HostBill edition you can download it from your client portal.

2. If the module is not included in your HostBill edition you can purchase it from our marketplace and then download it from the client area.

3. Once you download the module extract it in the main HostBill directory.

4. Go to Settings → Modules → Hosting Modules, find and activate ClouDNS DNS module.

Connecting HostBill with ClouDNS DNS

1. Proceed to Settings → Apps → Add new App

2. From Applications list select ClouDNS DNS

3. Enter:

      4. Verify entered credentials by clicking Test Connection to check if HostBill can connect
      5. Save Changes

Obtaining API User details from ClouDNS

First of all you must have an active ClouDNS account.

Log in to your ClouDNS account.

To obtain your API User details:

1. Go to the top menu, API section

2. Click the Add new user button

3. Enter the Auth password  and click Save button

4. Copy the Auth Id, Auth password and enter it in the appropriate fields in the app connection configuration

Adding ClouDNS DNS product

1. In HostBill go to Settings → Products & Services, and Add new order page

2. From Order Types select DNS Services

3. After creating order page add new product in it, provide its name & Save changes

4. In product configuration section proceed to Connect with App, select  ClouDNS DNS module and App server created in previous steps.

5. Enter number of domains your client can add and set fields that will specify how to configure SOA.

6. Submit changes, your package is ready

Configuring Client Functions   

In Products & Services → Your Order Page → Your Product → Client Functions you can control what features customer will have access to in client portal, by clicking Enable/Disable next to the given option.
Use Edit button to adjust function appearance in the client portal.

For ClouDNS you can enable the following client functions dedicated to this module:

1. Failover/Monitoring - allow clients to checks the health of your service and automatically redirects traffic to a backup server if the primary server becomes unavailable..

Failover/Monitoring Client Function

In DNS service details → Domain details users will find the Failover/Monitoring button, which redirects to the Failover/Monitoring page:

Managing Failover Settings

Users can enable or update failover configurations for A and AAAA records:

By enabling or updating failover settings, users can specify:

1. Main IP

2. Check type:

   1. Ping

   2. WEB

   3. TCP

   4. UPD

   5. DNS

   6. SMTP

3. Check period

4. Region

5. For Check type “Ping”:

   1. Ping threshold

   2. Timeout

6. For Check type “WEB”:

   1. Protocol

   2. URL to check

   3. Request method

   4. Custom string

   5. String to Match (if "Custom String" is selected)

   6. Custom header

   7. Header name and Header value (if "Custom Header" is selected)

7. For Check type “TCP” and “UPD”:

   1. Port

8. For Check type “DNS”:

   1. Host to query

   2. Query type

   3. Required response

9. For Check type “SMTP”:

   1. Connection security

   2. Port

10. Replace with working backup IP, if the Main IP is down

11. Backup ips (if "Replace with working backup IP if Main IP is down" is checked)

12. Activate the Main IP for the DNS record, if the Main IP is up
