Configuring RIPE
Overview
The latest IPAM plugin update includes support for RIPE REST API integration, allowing for automated creation, updates, deletion of inetnum, person, role objects in RIPE db.
Configuring IPAM
Tab should be available in your IPAM module - RIPE, as can be seen below:
Using this page, configure following fields:
Maintainer - your RIPE maintainer handle
Maintainer Password - your RIPE password for accessing API
Inetnum Prefix - prefix for the created inetnum, required as autogenerated name uses IP address and inetnum cannot start with a number
Test mode - ensures RIPE extension uses testmode, note: all changes made in test mode will be removed automatically at midnight
Auto-update inetnum on assignment - the inetnum will be automatically updated when any changes are made to related subnet assignments in IPAM
Auto-update role/person on client/contact edit - roles and person will be automatically updated if changes are made to the customer/contact that is assigned
Auto-delete inetnum on unassignment - inetnum will be automatically deleted if the subnet is deleted
Configuring HostBill
For RIPE to work properly in IPAM, it is necessary to add registration fields (checkboxes) with the variable names:
ripetech
ripeadmin
ripeperson
riperole
To add the mentioned registration fields, follow these steps:
Go to Clients → Registration fields in your HostBill
Click Add new field
Enter Field Name
Set type to checkbox for ripetech, ripeadmin and input for ripeperson, riperole
Under Advanced tab, set field Variable name (ripetech, ripeadmin, ripeperson or riperole)
The action should be repeated for each required variable
After adding the necessary registration fields and configuring the RIPE, you should perform a Test connection to check that everything has been properly configured.
