Connecting HostBill with VMware


  1. You can purchase vmWare 5 module for HostBill here: https://clients.hostbillapp.com/?cmd=cart&action=add&id=45
  2. Download vmware5 module from HostBill Licenses clientarea
  3. Extract archive contents in main HostBill directory
  4. In HostBill go to Settings > Modules, find and activate VMware hosting module
  5. You will be redirected to Settings > Apps to set connection with VMware
  6. Enter your VMware Ipusername and password, use Test Connection to check if HostBill can connect

Creating your first package


  1. In HostBill go to Settings > Products & Services, and Add new order page
  2. From Order Types select Vmware5
  3. After creating order page add new product, onece in it, provide a name
  4. In product configuration section proceed to Connect with App, select VMware5 module and App server created in previous steps.
  5. Click Get values from server and select desired configuration options.
  6. Save changes, your package is ready

  • Q: What VMware versions are supported?
  • A: Any 5.x should work, there was no significant API changes across ESXI version updates.
  • Q: Module works, but connection is slow, what can I do?
  • A: When possible, use empty node to create new VMs from HostBill, nodes filled by virtual machines issues slow API responses.
  • Q: Test connection do not return any succes/fail status?
  • A: Please increase your memory limit to at least 512MB. Make sure that php-soap extension is installed
  • Q: What is the purpose of the username/password that is created with an order?
  • A: If you're using ESXi account manager (node is not managed by vCenter), HostBill creates user in ESXi directly, allowing for further resource management (ie trough API)
