Overview

The latest IPAM plugin update has added support for RIPE. This document explains how to configure this service to work correctly with the IPAM plugin.

Configuring IPAM

After IPAM update, new tab updates includes support for RIPE REST API integration, allowing for automated creation, updates, deletion of inetnum, person, role objects in RIPE db.

Configuring IPAM

...

Tab should be available in your IPAM module - RIPE, as can be seen below:

...

Using this page, configure following fields:

  1. Maintainer - your RIPE maintainer handle

  2. Maintainer Password - your RIPE password for accessing API

  3. Inetnum Prefix - prefix for the created inetnum, needed because the name of the required as autogenerated name uses IP address and inetnum cannot start with a number

  4. Test mode - runs ensures RIPE extension uses testmode, note: all changes made in test mode will be removed automatically at midnight

  5. Auto-update inetnum on assignment - the inetnum will be automatically updated when any changes are made to related subnet assignments in IPAM

  6. Auto-update role/person on client/contact edit - roles and person will be automatically updated if changes are made to the customer/contact that is assigned

  7. Auto-delete inetnum on unassignment - inetnum will be automatically deleted if the subnet is deleted

...

For RIPE to work properly in IPAM, it is necessary to add registration fields (checkboxes) with the variable names:

  • ripetech

  • ripeadmin

  • ripeperson

  • riperole
