Overview

Matomo is a powerful, free and open source web analytics platform that gives you 100% data ownership. Matomo is a popular alternative to Google Analytics. HostBill integration enables e-commerce tracking and analytics in your billing system.


Activating the module

  1. The plugin is free and available to all HostBill users. In order to activate the plugin go to Settings→ Modules→ Plugins → Inactive, find and activate Matomo_ecommerce plugin

  2. Once the plugin is activated you will be directed to Settings→ Modules→ Plugins to configure the module.

Module configuration

Fill in the configuration fields:

  1. Choose module display name
  2. Select if you want the plugin to be accessible for all staff members or only selected staff members.
  3. Enter:
    1. Matomo URL
    2. Auth Token
    3. Site ID
  4. Track upgrades - tick this box to send purchase information about product upgrades ordered

How to obtain data from Matomo

Login to your Matomo Dashboard, go to Settings → Personal → Security

On the bottom of the page click on Create New Token button:

Add token description and click on Create New Token button.

Go to Websites → Manage → Measurables → Add New Measurable

Configure the measurable:

Once create, you will have the ID listed:

Enable Ecommerce Tracking

To track conversions on purchase from referral source you can enable Ecommerce tracking. When order is completed plugin will automatically add ordered items to the tracking code.

Note: to make sure this code is added for each order made, make sure to redirect your clients to “Order completed page” after purchase. You can enable this option in HostBill settings:
